Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity has posted a review of Onkyo’s latest entry in to the high-end A/V receiver market, the TX-SR805. The TX-SR805 features a measured 130w x 7 amplifier with a steller pre-amp section that features the Audyssey MultEQ XT system for speaker setup and room correction; Digital to Analog conversion is provided by top-of-the line Burr-Brown DACs. The 3-in/1-out HDMI 1.3 switch features support for Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD. The reviewer was particularly impressed with the receiver’s exceptional amplifier performance which resulted in the THX Ultra2 certification. He even measures idle power consumption with HDMI control enabled and disabled. The review concludes that the Onkyo TX-SR805 is exceptional receiver especially given its $1099 MSRP.
